Dinner tonight

I eat a fair amount of chicken. Our stores aren't all that reliable with the kinds of chicken cuts available at any given time. I was looking for a whole chicken but ended up with the last package of legs and thighs. I skipped the option of the Suppenhunner. (soup chicken. they are skinny and tough, real tough.)
To be a bit different I browned a diced onion with mushrooms. Set those aside and toasted with just a little oil brown rice. I added 2 cups of stock, a can of chopped tomatoes and then the reserved onion mushrooms. Some salt and pepper and a bit of Marisa powder. That went into a baking pan. Then I browned the chicken parts, I separated the drumsticks from the thighs. When browned they were put into the baking pan.
The whole thing went into a 375 F oven for about 50 minutes.

I even have enough left over for a second dinner.

Two SUV in front of our apartment

Went for a dog walk this PM. These two SUVs were parked end to end on our street next to the driveway into our complex.
First is a Skoda Kodiak 4x4, and the second is the latest generation of the Jeep Cherokee. Euro versions. Biggest engines are 2 liter.
The Cherokee is a lot different from the one my friend had in the early 70's. Thought Kodiak was a strange name for a car built in Europe for Europe.

No surprises here

EVs produce less pollution, Other than from not burning gas or diesel. There is also a big drop-off in brake dust. This is thanks to regenerative braking. I saw an article from the famous car advice people that brakes are lasting a lot longer in cars with that type of braking.
One downside is that tire wear pollution is up because the cars are heavier. This stuff gets washed into streams and rivers.

Real world battery loss test

ADAC the zGerman AAA tested a VW id3 for 4 years and 100000 miles. They found batter loss of 9% but much of that was corrected by software upgrades which improved efficiency.

Found on Bluesky. Thought it was funny.

In a post relating to the fact that US broadcasters go to commercial when the Canadian National anthem is played. Plus as a comment on tariffs.

Can't wait until August 6th.

Then the real howls will start. 11 over isn't an mistake. It is done willfully.
132,000 warning sent out in a short period after 40 speed cameras installed.

This is good news for renewable energy

Ocean turbines in Scotland have been running for more than 6 years without any unscheduled maintenance or failures. Tides don't care about sun or wind. Also won't interfere with the view from Trump's golf courses.

The MeyGen tidal energy project off the coast of Scotland has four turbines producing 1.5 megawatts each, enough electricity collectively to power up to 7,000 homes annually. On Thursday, the Swedish company SKF announced that its bearings and seals on one of the turbines had passed the 6 1/2-year mark without needing unplanned or disruptive maintenance. It has been working closely with the industry for a decade on design and testing.

We are officially here in Germany for the long haul.

Signed the sales contract, signed the loan papers for a flat. Now we wait for the Land registry to do their thing.
Ten year fixed at 3.3% and we can put up to 20K towards principle every year. What a procedure.

Now we get to deal with the move process and the new kitchen installation by the end of September.

The police state is here, now.

Militarized kozentration camps, military taking over parks, shipping people out of the country, firing people for working in the last administration.

The GOP doesn't care. This what the oligarchs want.
